Prabowo to Pro Integration of East Timor: Elite Don't Understand Your Struggle

Candidates for President Prabowo Subianto said that elites in Jakarta did not understand the struggle and sacrifice of pro-integration fighters of East Timor to the Republic of Indonesia. In fact, according to Prabowo, these fighters have sacrificed their lives, families, and property to defend the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.

This was conveyed by Prabowo when he met with pro-integration fighters of East Timor to NKRI and East Timorese Seroja fighters in Atambua, Belu District, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The meeting was in the context of Prabowo's friendship with his comrades.

"Many elites in Jakarta do not understand your brothers' struggles and sacrifices. Let alone the sacrifices of the brothers, the suffering of the Indonesian people in other places, even in their own capital they do not understand, do not even understand or pretend not to understand, "Prabowo said, in a written statement on Thursday.

Prabowo then recalled the times of the struggle at that time. Where, the fighters sacrificed their lives and bodies for the sake of Indonesia.

He also admitted that he was touched by the loyalty of the Indonesian people in East Timor who have now gone to the border region at Atambua to remain loyal to the Indonesian nation and state. Because of that, the General Secretary of the Gerindra Party promised to create justice and prosperity for all the people.

"I still remember what happened to you. You sacrificed everything, your life, your family, your property, your land, but you still remain loyal to this Republic of Indonesia, and I want your sacrifice to be an example for this nation," he said .

"That this country was built by blood and tears. The struggle was not limited to words, but the sacrifice was manifested by real actions for the NKRI. And I will continue to fight for your brothers," continued Prabowo, who was greeted with thunderous applause.

On that occasion, Prabowo also explained that he had long wanted to come to Atambua to meet his comrades. But only now can he be present and reminisce with his old friend.

"I have wanted to come here for a long time and look at you and now I am able to come here. I saw the faces of old friends, friends who fought under the red and white flags and I understood the sacrifices of all of you very "Your struggle is extraordinary," he said.

Before meeting with East Timorese pro-integration fighters to NKRI and East Timorese Seroja fighters, Prabowo also visited the tomb of Joao Tavares. The plan was after meeting with the fighters, the former Kopassus Danjen would meet with the people of NTT.
